Bay Lake Map - Table

Bay Lake has officially found its home.

This is a custom 17-layer lake map built into a full-size coffee table. The map itself is made from 17 layers of 1/4 inch Baltic birch, is more than four inches thick, and weighs over 200 pounds. The finished table is roughly 48 by 44 inches, with the lake map protected beneath a glass top.

The owners had been thinking about a Bay Lake table map for well over a year. They researched the idea, explored different artists and approaches, and waited until they found the right fit.

This was not simply a larger version of one of my normal maps. Nearly every part of it required a new solution: designing at this scale, keeping all 17 layers aligned, building enough structure to support the weight, and figuring out how the map and table could truly become one finished piece.

It pushed my equipment, skills, patience, and creative problem-solving farther than anything I have built so far. But seeing it finished, installed, and immediately loved by its new owners made every bit of that worth it.

I am incredibly grateful they trusted me with a project this ambitious.
