Alternating stained and natural wood layers aren’t just for looks. I don’t paint my maps — I use stain instead, so the natural wood grain can still show through. That’s a big part of what gives each piece its warmth and character. Rather than everything blending together, the structure of the lake stands out and reveals something new depending on the angle and lighting.
